The Norton Alternative Transportation Committee (ATC)
The Norton ATC promotes community-based projects by improving the cultural, historic, recreational, and environmental aspects of our transportation infrastructure.
The Norton ATC was started informally in the early spring of 2013 and was formally incorporated by the Norton Board of Selectmen in September 2013. The committee is supported by SRPEDD's Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Program and meets on an as-needed basis at the Norton Town Hall. The goals of the committee include:
The committee serves as a way to coordinate bicycling efforts within the town and address Bikeway routing that may arise over time.

- Develop an off-road bikeway connecting to the Mansfield World War II trail.
- Investigate on-road connections in Norton
- Develop a wide support network for bikeway initiatives in Norton
- Find innovative funding and labor sources for bikeway development
- Advocate for bicycle and pedestrian facilities and accommodations in Norton
- Organize bike events that promote awareness of bicycling and walking and physical fitness.
